Anemic Notes

When they say "its too hot here"
I don't get it
my core temperature
so far below, so cold
that when you hold me close
its like a fever
surging through my skin.

And I realize
as I hear yours,
that I've forgotten
what my heart sounds like.

You say mine's: "a little out of sync",
that: "it has a little back-beat."

I sit in silence for a moment,
until I figure it out
and then I say: "I don't think it'll last,
I'm pretty sure my heart will catch up
and find its rhythm,
now that it has yours to follow."
